Hi there, I’m James – the guy behind Sensible Fishing. When I started this blog, I wanted to provide reliable fishing gear recommendations to help fellow enthusiasts pick the right equipment to catch more of their favorite fish.
Over time, however, I realized that along with improving my fishing success, I also needed to protect the waters I depend on for future generations. I believe responsible, eco-friendly fishing practices and conservation of aquatic habitats go hand-in-hand.
My Hopes for Sustainable Recreational Fishing
I see a future where anglers and environmental advocates work together to preserve abundant fisheries and healthy freshwater and marine ecosystems. I strive to support this vision through my content and community focused on:
- Promoting strict catch-and-release fishing when harvesting isn’t necessary
- Reviews of barbless hooks, biodegradable line/lures to reduce gear left behind
- Guidelines for responsible boat handling to protect shorelines and aquatic vegetation
- Species-specific best practices to ensure fish survival after release
- Appreciating the value of our fisheries through conservation volunteering
Drop me a line anytime if you have suggestions for sustainable fishing practices or conservation topics you want to see covered here at Sensible Fishing!
Tight lines,
James
